• Established in 1995, formed under the Directorate for Standards and Quality (STAMEQ)
• Offers accreditation programs for Laboratories, Inspection bodies, Certification bodies.
• Member of International Organization: APLAC (Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), ILAC ( International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) and PAC (Pacific Accreditation Cooperation).
• Signatories to the APLAC and ILAC MRAs for VILAS scheme and VIAS scheme, PAC MRAs for VICAS scheme.
• To 2007 accreditation of about 300 Laboratories, Inspections and Certification bodies.
