Workshop on Standards, Conformity Assessment and Forensic Investigation of Consumer and EE


On April 17-19, 2007, with the sponsor by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the workshop on Standards, Conformity Assessment and Forensic Investigation of Consumer and Electronic Equipment was held by Directorate for Standards and Quality (STAMEQ) within the framework of ASEAN-US co-operation at Hanoi Horison Hotel.

On April 17-19, 2007, with the sponsor by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the workshop on Standards, Conformity Assessment and Forensic Investigation of Consumer and Electronic Equipment was held by Directorate for Standards and Quality (STAMEQ) within the framework of ASEAN-US co-operation at Hanoi Horison Hotel.

Thirty-five participants from ASEAN countries and US attended the workshop.

The main contents of the workshop were as follows:

  • The developmentmethodologies, processes, and administration of consensus based product safety standards
  • The underlying theories of Hazard Based Safety Engineering
  • Safety Critical aspects of Conformity Assessment
  • The step by step conformity assessment process used for evaluating consumer products for safety
  • Surveillance processes for consumer products to facilitate ongoing compliance
  • Post market surveillance and Corrective Action roles and regulatory processes from a governmental perspective
